I’m Monika Dalman, a Vancouver-based Casting Director, Producer, and Consultant working across film, television, and short-form storytelling.

Casting is the centre of what I do. Over the past decade, I’ve cast more than 300 projects worldwide, across features, TV movies, series, shorts, independent productions, and verticals. I’ve worked with established actors, recognizable names, total newcomers, and performers who walked into an audition and completely changed how we saw the role.

What I love most about casting is the combination of instinct and strategy. It’s knowing when the obvious choice is right, when it absolutely isn’t, and when someone unexpected can completely transform a project.

My work has also expanded into producing and consulting, where I work with producers, studios, platforms, and IP owners on development, packaging, casting strategy, and production.

A huge part of my work is also advocacy. I’m passionate about better standards, clearer communication, ethical casting practices, and making sure actors are treated like the professionals they are. I co-founded the Vertical Film & Short-Form Screen Association in part to help build stronger infrastructure and protections around a rapidly changing part of our industry.

I regularly teach, speak, and consult on casting and the changing entertainment landscape, and my work and commentary have been featured in The Hollywood Reporter, CBC, CTV, Playback, and C21Media.

More than anything, I love finding the actor who makes everyone stop talking about who the character should be, because suddenly, there they are.

Casting isn’t just filling roles. It’s storytelling.
